Lenzman – All For You EP

I’ll try to hold back all my bias about Lenzmans debut on his new project – The North Quarter, I always feel my ears burning at the knowledge of a release form this man. The All For You EP is gorgeously soulful and deep.  Throughout the EP there’s some inspiring piano work, which I’m lost for words to explain how good it makes me feel.  Also the rushing sounds of Don’t Let Go and Down for Whatever – here >> http://thenorthquarter.nl/album/all-for-you-ep

African Dream

An ethereal piano splashes lazily across this deep meditative piece a submerse bassline sustains and undulates through.

Don’t Let Go

Rushing percussion work races across a soundscape, punctured by crooning vocals and driven by a thick wedge of a bassline.

Down for Whatever

Lenzman is absolutely solid on the drum work here whilst throwing in some tasty open hi-hats. Vocal work weaves in and out of a lazy distant piano and combines the rapid nature of the piece to add a concentrated focus this piece.

Grateful feat. DRS

A cheeky little number with some absolutely fire percussion and a naughty little of lose piano key. DRS adds his own cheek through his prose, although it’s a serious subject matter 😉

So Alone

On hearing So Alone it was the first time on the EP I really noticed the depth of Piano work Lenzman has applied to this EP. The warmth of the bassline on this wonderfully crafted composition rocks its foundations with care. Inspirational.

Children of Zeus feat. DRS – Still Standing (Lenzman Remix)

Poetic lessons on how to appreciate your mother’s witnesses some emotional honesty from DRS. And glides over soul caressing piano work from the mighty Lenzman.

SoS – No Script Sunday 06032016

It was all up and down this Sunday. Felt that I needed to get some more ears on London Electricity’s recent album but I apologies for the mushy opening track. I couldn’t resist more Makoto and Asides and took a learning to Riyas album, Sublimination throughout. There’s also a piece form Lenzmans new release on Metalheadz. AS we go through there’s a slow gently relax in pace at the end. Probably needed more coffee at that point.

SoS Aug 2015 – (LSB, DRS, Lenzman, dBridge, Scorpio, Need for Mirrors)

First snippet from the http://www.signalsofsound.com August 2015 Mixcast. Image thanks to – https://instagram.com/heplow/

DRS – The View ft LSB & Tyler Daley

Full of energy with a zen like perfection brought by the wistful vocals of Tyler Daley, LSB’s drum and layer stylings and some craft lyricism from Sir DRS. Wraps the listener up and locks down for a spiritual experience.

Lenzman – Just Can’t Take (feat.DRS) – dBridge Remix

Lenzman gets the dBridge treatment. Brought down low, stripped and retextured with a raw snare and deadly bassline dBridge pays homage to the DRS vocals to fall effect. An effortless lesson in keeping the vibe at its bones. If you fancy the Dub version the Metalheadz have thrown that into the release also.

Scorpio – 26 bass (special mix)

Barebone dance floor ripper with some special little break sections and a big old snare. A combo perfect for some nice primal aggression.

Need 4 Mirrors – Self Portrait

On the b-side Need for Mirrors brings the same vocal hints from Ethos through to another deep down piece. Self Portrait features form playful keys, which patter across and through the piece as it progressives through in an intelligent manner.

THE REMIXES – Lenzman – Looking to the Stars (dBridge, Ivy Lab, LSB, Submorphics, Ulterior Motive, Zero T)

The Metalheadz release of the Lenzman – Looking at the Stars remix EP has received so much praise that I’d be a fool not to have a nice sit down, listen, write and no doubt a little desktop boogie.

Lenzman – Paper Faces (feat Martyna Baker) / Ivy Lab Remix

Those that listen to the SoS mixcast series may have noticed my special connection to the original so it will come as no surprise that my heart almost exploded at knowing about an Ivy Lab Remix of it. The Lab did not disappoint and provided my ears with a delicious switch to the original. All the original parts are elevated and tweaked to Ivy Lab standard. Deciding to switch away from the full vocal this remix highlights new parts and features a beautiful like dull metal tom element on the break. Deep, Deep, Deep and that snare rattle in all its subtlety has a raw earthy element to it.

Lenzman – Move and Focus (Feat Dan Stezo) / Submorphics Remix

A personal favourite from the original album. Submorphics brings his sublime soul vibe to the piece to create a strolling beat line, which has this heading swaying. Dan Stezo’s lyricism remains intact, thankfully as Submorphics pieces together string and synth, underpinned by a low persistent low end, punctuated by subtle low squelch basslines

Lenzman – My Tearz / Ulterior Motive Remix

Ulterior Motive twists the original on its head with some rough snares and floor ruining bassline. Of cause it’s hard to fault these boys at the moment and this remix is no exception to their current form. Wait for the second drop on this, it’s a fucking belter!!!

Had to drop this in a Periscope session recently see here…

Just Can’t Take (feat DRS) / dBridge Remix

An effortless lesson in keeping the vibe at its bones.  If you fancy the Dub version the Metalheadz have thrown that into the release also.

Lenzman – Starz (feat Kevin King) / LSB Remix

One of my favourite of the EP to be honest. LSB may have pipped the original to the post here. The vocal remains and is possibly heightened further, I can’t but “sing” (or more realistically, mime to) on this version. Piano drenches a tried and tested LSB drum work nirvana underpinned by an enveloping bassline. This joint here, is a shut your eyes and drift into a deep dream territory.

Lenzman – Lazy Dub / Zero T Remix

Zero T ups the immersive layer elements of this classy little Lenzman man number, wrapping the listener up in a deep soulful blanket whilst simultaneously rocking a rugged snare line, deep dub still bassline and keeping true to the classy little bongo percussion of the original.
